AWAKE takes seriously our commission to live naturally supernatural lives. The apostle Paul said in 1Corinthians 4:20 that "the Kingdom is not in word but in power." After planting the church community in Corinth, he had moved to other areas to plant churches. In his absence, some among the Corinthians had become arrogant, making themselves seem spiritual, and preaching self-serving messages. In hearing these reports, Paul wrote to the Corinthians that he was going to make his way back in order to "find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power." (v. 19)
In this day and age, Christians have mastered the art of oratory. We're very skilled at preaching rousing sermons; however, the Kingdom isn't about mere words. It's about the demonstration of God's miraculous power (1Co. 2:4). In fact, walking in the supernatural was the expectation in the first-day church, not the exception. While we've lost this in so much of today's church, AWAKE is committed to reclaiming it.
We have training for our alliance members that teach them how to access the resources of our divine life, and to live as agents of God's Kingdom in the world. Our goal is to make the supernatural a natural power of our lives, our new normal. In this way, we won't be shocked and surprised when the power of God is demonstrated among us. We'll be shocked and surprised when it's not! Healings, miracles, signs and wonders will be our new rule, and a lack of them will be the exception.
